RE: Upgrading tranny cooler in 7.3 PSD

I bought the Tru-Cool from DieselSite.com. It works great and was a simple install. No more overheating.

RE: ? about Excursion

The reason for monitoring the low side of the fuel is because if the low pressure fuel pump goes bad the engine will still run because the high pressure fuel pump will suck the fuel from the tank. However, it's very hard on it. If your low side fuel pressure drops off you can replace a $300 fuel pump. If your high pressure pump dies because you let the low side go then you're looking at about $3000. The 7.3 has only ONE fuel pump. It is located on the frame. It doe not have a high pressure FUEL pump like many other diesels.

RE: 2008 Jayco 32BHDS - JAYFLIGHT G2

My In-laws neighbor has the NEW Tundra pulling the the '08 Eagle 314BHDS (9500# dry weight, 250# less than the 32BHDS G2) and swears it pulls fine. Why would he say anything else? I tow a Jayco 31 BHDS that is rates at 9200 lbs, no way I would try it with any half ton, even if it is "beefed up".

RE: Jayco G2 32BHDS - Opinions wanted?

Of course they came out with that model AFTER we bought our 31 BHDS, otherwise we would have it. We love our Jayco!

RE: 3000W Chinese Gensets Info.

I have had my Champion RV ready generator for almost a year with very little use. It has though now been running for 13 1/2 hrs today as back up power for my home. We lost power at around 03:00 last night and the restoration of power is uncertain at this time. So I LOVE my Champion now!! Much quieter than the 8hp gen my neighbor is running. :)

RE: best camp grill

I just bought a Weber Q200 after reading good review on the Weber Q series grills on here. I used it this week on a trip and love it. I bought a 4ft hose to use a larger (20lb) propane tank. It works much better than our RVQ. The RVQ would not get near hot enough to cook the awesome steaks I cooked this week on the Weber.

RE: International's new Class 8 truck , the LoneStar

Boy, you sure don't see as many Mack trucks as you used to. When I first joined the fire service most of our engines were Macks, and everybody loved them. It was a sad day when Mack stopped producing fire apparatus.. :( I've been in the fire service for 10 years. We had 4-5 frontline Macks when I started. I loved them, most hated them due to the lack of creature comforts compared to the newer Pierce apparatus. The Mack's were all 5 speed standard and we're pumping machines. Bare bones fire engines. I miss them.

RE: Equal-i-zer Hitch, A+++ Customer Service!! (Long)

I have had EXCELLENT customer service from Equalizer as well. I had an issue with a bent shank and bolts and other than shipping problems they went above and beyond for me.

RE: 7.3 Powerstroke Oil Leak

I have had leaks at both the High Pressure Oil Pump (HPOP) and the turbo pedestal. The oil will run to the back of the valley and then down into the bell housing. It will eventually come out of the vent hole on the inspection cover you see. Check the valley first. There are a few possible oil leaks in the valley that are some what common.

RE: Quickie Flush, Tornado......which one?

The "Tornado" actually requires a 1 3/4" hole. I just installed mine this week. I was unable to get adequate access on the side opposite the drain, so mine is on the same side. Used it today for the first time and it was amazing how dirty an "empty" tank was. The water did run clear after a few minutes. I now need to crawl back under to tighten the hose clamp some more as it was leaking a little. Also I placed my back flow preventer on the tornado with the the hose feeding it, not at the inlet to the hose. Anyone see a problem with that?

RE: Anyone have their Equalizer arm come off?

Was he making a hard left turn when the right arm came off? Check the measurements on the L-bracket placement on the trailer frame and ensure they have not moved back past the reccomended placement in the instructions. This could allow the weight bar to pull out of the bracket on hard turns.

RE: Generator

We bought the Champion generator this summer. We decided this was the appropriate choice as we will use it very little. It will mostly be used to run the A/C during rest/food stops. It does this job nicely sitting in the pick-up bed. As far as modifying the muffler, I beleive that would gain you very little. The noise does not seem to come from the exhaust as much as it does from the crankcase. The exhaust itself as I recall was relatively quiet and the muffler is pretty large already.
